Functional Dry Needling (FDN) involves sterilized needles being inserted into tight muscles to alleviate pain and muscle tension, increase strength and range of motion, and ultimately promote healing.
FDN is a valuable and effective treatment for musculoskeletal pain. Although the needles are being employed, FDN differs from acupuncture as it encompasses a medicinal approach as opposed to a focus on the meridian lines of the body.
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a needling technique used to decrease nerve irritation and pain following injury. IMS causes muscles to relax, encouraging a reduction in pain and a greater range of motion.
